Born in Kollapur, Aelleni Sudhakar Rao is an electrical engineer who spent over two decades in Telangana's power sector — rising from Assistant Engineer to Vice Chairman & Managing Director of TSREDCO — before taking voluntary retirement to serve the people of his birthplace. He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2018, contested Kollapur in 2018 and 2023, served as BJP District President of Nagarkurnool, and is now the party's District In-charge for Vikarabad.
01
Roots in Kollapur
Aelleni Sudhakar Rao was born in Kollapur, on the banks of the Krishna in today's Nagarkurnool district. At the age of twelve he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, where he learnt the values that still guide him: discipline, service to society and putting the nation first.
02
An engineer's education
He studied at Gandhi Memorial High School and National High School, went on to polytechnic, and earned a B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from SVH Engineering College in 1991. Years later, while working, he added an MBA in Human Resources from Acharya Nagarjuna University (2009).
03
Two decades in the power sector
He began his career in 1992 as an Assistant Engineer with APSEB in Mahabubnagar, and grew through the ranks — Assistant Divisional Engineer (2000–2010), Divisional Engineer (2010–2014) and Divisional Engineer with TSSPDCL (2014–2016) — serving across Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and Hyderabad.
04
A voice for engineers
Colleagues trusted him to lead them. He served as General Secretary and President of the APSEB Engineers Association (2004–2014) and as President of the Power Engineers Association (2014–2016), representing his fellow engineers through the years of Telangana's formation.
05
Leading TSREDCO
In 2016 he was appointed Vice Chairman & Managing Director of the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO, now TGREDCO), the state agency for renewable and clean energy, and led it until 2018.
06
Choosing people over position
At the height of his career he took voluntary retirement. The reason was simple: public service, and the development of Kollapur, the place he was born. For him, bringing change to his birthplace mattered more than any title.
07
Into public life with the BJP
He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2018, drawn by its ideology and nationalism, and by a belief in people-centred politics over family rule. He contested Kollapur in 2018 and 2023, served as BJP State Spokesperson (2018–2019) and as District President of Nagarkurnool (2019–2025).
08
Today
Since 2025 he has served as the BJP's District In-charge for Vikarabad. He continues to spend his days among people — listening, following up on their concerns, and encouraging young people and graduates to take part in public life.
